It used to be that men were expected to have a spare tire and to be generally a bit overweight. That was just the way men were while women were expected to be on a perpetual diet, always trying to attain what they thought was their perfect weight. It was as though the only ones expected to look good were the females of the species and any deviation from that stigma was seen as less than masculine somehow. Just think about it: A few years ago, could anyone have imagined faces like Dan Marino or Larry the Cable Guy on television hawking diet food home delivery?
Well as good ol’ Bob Dylan told us so many years ago the times, they are a’changin’. With those changing times comes an increase in the obesity of our society as a whole as well as an increase in obesity related illnesses and diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Stigmas and preconceived notions about dieting aside, doctors and other medical professionals are now instructing their male patients to lose weight or face dire consequences.
Heart disease, heart attacks and stroke all have ties to being overweight, as does diabetes and yet for decades men have avoided attempts to cut their weight because of the long held belief that dieting is something that only women do. Thanks to declining public health and an increase in studies that prove excess weight to be a factor in decreasing that health, men are in fact beginning to look into weight loss programs. What they are finding has surprised more than a few of them.
Diet food home delivery is one of the most innovative options the weight loss industry has ever offered. It supplies an amazing convenience to its customers who are already living fast paced lifestyles where spare time is at a minimum. In addition, men are not going to count calories or measure out portions of food; it seems less manly to do something like that. With diet delivery to your door, there is no more counting calories or any of the rest of that embarrassing and time consuming tedium. The meals arrive ready to heat and eat.
There are even diet food delivery programs that offer services and meal plans catering specifically to men, which means that these are not going to be those namby pamby snow peas and carrots meals – there are pizzas, burgers and even chocolate in portions that are enough to fill you up and still help you lose weight.
As much of a pain as it might be, losing weight can be necessary if you want to be around to watch your kids graduate from high school, get married and have children of their own. As men get older it is tougher to lose that weight so it is best to start working in that direction as soon as you can. A little exercise couldn’t hurt either, so why not do something romantic like ask your wife to go out for a walk in the evening – just the two of you.
It’ll do wonders for your health and your relationship, too.
