Diet Food Delivery

With the diet, exercise and weight loss industry at an all time high it should come as no surprise that many of the more popular companies are jumping into the diet food delivery service over the past few years.  The problem used to be that you could not find the help you need to lose weight in a safe and health conscious way and now the opposite is true.  There are so many choices available for diet food home delivery that it is almost impossible to make a choice between them without doing a good deal of research.

The good news is that while these companies are definitely in the business to make money, they have taken the necessary steps to ensure that your health and nutrition are not sacrificed in your weight loss efforts.  In fact, some of the more well known names have even gone so far as to offer meal plans that are tailor made for people with special dietary concerns such as diabetics, vegetarians and even senior citizens.

One user of the Jenny Direct program – which is ideal for people who would like to participate in Jenny Craig but don’t live a convenient distance from one of their centers – explained the system to me this way:

“I paid about $450 for the first month’s worth of food which wasn’t really that bad considering it included breakfast, lunch, dinner and  snacks.  I also signed up for a rewards program that offered me a discount as well.”

Iris went on to explain that the rewards program gave her a discount of 10% on the purchases for the first eight weeks, 20% for the next eight and 30% after that, making it even more cost effective the longer you stay on the program.

Nutrisystem on the other hand offers a major advantage in that there is no membership fee associated with the program.  In addition they are running a special incentive currently that gives you an extra full week of food along with your initial purchase of four weeks.  This equates to right at $300.00 for the first five weeks.  With their convenient auto ship option, customers can save even more over time.

Regardless of which program you choose, you will need to provide your own fresh fruits and vegetables with the plans suggesting an average of 4 ½ cups per day.  The main thing to remember is that studies have shown the average home diet delivery user will stick with the program for about 9.5 weeks.  If this might be the case for you, Nutrisystem will cost you less no matter how to look at it, since there is no contract to sign.

With either diet plan you will need to begin educating yourself quickly on how to prepare healthier meals that will allow you to maintain your weight loss once you have achieved your goal as neither Jenny Direct nor Nutrisystem are designed for long term use once you have reached your weight loss goals.  In other words, they aren’t something you will want to be on for the rest of your life and lifestyle changes are necessary.
